Fokker Aerospace Group to co-operate with Romanian aerospace company
12-03-2003Fokker Aerospace Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Romanian aerospace company Aerostar with the aim of establishing a long-term relationship. As part of its supply chain development activities, Fokker Aerospace Group selected Aerostar as a partner to support its Fokker Aerostructures subsidiary in the production of sheet metal parts and sub-assemblies (very thin aluminium sheet sections). This agreement will increase the flexibility and competitiveness of the production capacity of Fokker Aerospace Group.
The co-operation was initiated with the support of Senter, an agency of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs which implements government policy in the fields of technology, energy, exports and international co-operation.
The MOU represents extra turnover for Aerostar. The company, with facilities in Bacau (200 miles from Bucharest), has a 50-year history and a profitable annual turnover of approximately EUR 20 million with over 2,000 employees.
Fokker Aerospace Group designs and produces lightweight structural components and wiring systems for commercial and military aircraft. The group (3,225 employees) achieved a turnover of EUR 411 million in 2002, out of the total Stork turnover of EUR 2 billion.
