Fokker Engineering Romania

Fokker Engineering Romania was founded in 2004 and is located in Bucharest and is a 100% daughter of Fokker Aerostructures. Here we develop structural components for various aircraft. Fokker Engineering Romania works in all phases of aircraft development: from the inception of the airplane in the concept phase up to the support of production in the sustaining phase. Our office is organized in project teams, a team is made up of design engineers, who design airplane structures in a CAD tool and stress engineers who perform all necessary calculations to support and certify the design. The project teams are managed in Bucharest but form an integral part of the larger Fokker project organization. The sustaining department at FER handles non-conformity reports for parts and assemblies of various aircraft.

Why Romania

Fokker decided to set up a design office in Romania because the country has a long standing tradition in aerospace. There is a good faculty of aerospace engineering and an existing industry. Because Romania is a member of the EU and NATO, there are little limitations to the work that can be done in Bucharest.

The team and the work

There are currently 40 people working in our office. The engineers FER hires can be characterized as hard-working, involved and passionate about their work. The multidisciplinary project teams at FER stand for delivering high quality work, on time and within budget. This has made our office successful in the past and we will continue upon this path in the future. FER engineers enjoy seeing parts designed in our office come to life in the manufacturing process and on the assembly line.

We are completely integrated in the Fokker Aerostructures IT infrastructure and we have access to the huge amount of knowledge on aircraft design present in the Fokker organization. To ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge, our engineers get the chance to visit Fokker Netherlands if that is required. We have worked on the following programs:

  • Airbus A380
  • Airbus A400M
  • Airbus A350
  • Dassault Falcon 7X
  • Dassault SMS
  • Gulfstream G550
  • Gulfstream G650
  • NHI NH90
