Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV)
Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV) enables the flight crew to fly an approach similar to ILS CAT 1 minima without the use of ground based landing aids. LPV approach makes use of a Space Based Augmentation System, (SBAS) which is available in several regions of the world like for example WAAS (USA) and EGNOS (Europe). From December 2020 all instrument runway ends with a Non Precision Approach (NPA) in Europe should have an approach based on LNAV/VNAV or LPV.

LPV capability has many benefits like independency from ground based landing aids, decision minima down to 200ft, less flight delays/cancellations and many more. Fokker Services’ LPV concept requires the installation of two dedicated SBAS receivers, no change to the existing avionics architecture.
